AI answering

Will customers hang up on an AI assistant?

What callers actually hear, why we say it is AI up front, and where it hands over to you.

It’s the first thing everyone asks, and it’s a fair question. Nobody wants to lose a job because of a robotic voice. So here is exactly how the call is meant to go, including the bits that aren’t perfect.

Does it say it’s an AI?

Yes, at the start of every call. It introduces itself as the AI assistant for your business and doesn’t pretend to be one of your staff. We’d rather be straight with callers than have them find out halfway through.

What does it do on the call?

It asks what the caller needs and takes the essentials: name, number, postcode, the job and how urgent it is. If it isn’t sure it heard something right, it checks.

What won’t it do?

It won’t make up prices, promise appointments or answer questions it hasn’t been given the answer to. Anything outside what you’ve agreed gets passed to you.

Can it get things wrong?

Yes. AI can mishear names, numbers and noisy lines. That’s why we test it with you before any customer reaches it, and why the first week gets a close look.

So will some people hang up?

Some callers would rather speak to a person, and we can’t promise otherwise. But compare it with the alternative, which is a phone that rings out. A clear reply and a callback usually beats nothing. Listen to it yourself during setup and decide whether it sounds right for your customers.
