What to put on your website so customers ring you

The few things homeowners look for before they pick up the phone.

Most trade websites don’t need to be clever. They need to answer a few questions quickly, because that’s all a homeowner wants before picking up the phone.

Do they know what you do and where?

Put your trade and your area in the first line. Someone should know within seconds whether you cover them.

Can they reach you easily?

A phone number they can tap, at the top of every page. And make sure it gets answered, or that a missed call gets a reply.

Is the proof real?

Photos of your own work and reviews from real customers who’ve agreed to be quoted. Skip made-up testimonials, and if you haven’t got many yet, say less rather than invent anything.

Do you give a straight answer on price?

You don’t need a full price list. A few lines on how you price, what changes the cost and what a typical job involves help people feel safe ringing you.

Is it obvious what happens next?

“Ring us, we’ll take the details, and we’ll call you back today.” Simple steps take the doubt away.

Then check the phone

A good website only helps if the calls it brings in get answered. That’s the bit a front office takes off your hands.
